6.5 Motorcycle Speakers: Coaxial, Pro Coaxial or Midrange
Every 6.5" speaker here does one of three jobs:
- Coaxial (tweeter built in): the Cicada CX65 and CXX65, Hertz SX 165 NEO, Ground Zero GZCF 6.5XSPL, DB Drive EX6NCD-CFV2 and DS18 PRO-HY6 MSL.
- Pro coaxial (horn built in): the Cicada CHX65 PRO, Cicada CH65, Diamond Audio MP65, DB Drive WDX6MOTO-CD and DS18 PRO-HY6.4B.
- Midrange / mid-bass (no tweeter): the Ground Zero GZCK 165XSPL, Hertz SV 165 NEO and Cicada CM65X.
A horn projects better at highway speed. A midrange needs a separate tweeter.
Fitting a 6.5 Speaker in a Harley Fairing
Most fit problems are depth, not diameter. Check the mounting depth against your fairing. If you're short, spacer rings like Cicada's SPACER65 or DS18's Harley 6.5" rings add depth. 1998-2013 fairings often need adapter rings.
