6.5 or 8-Inch Lower Fairing Speaker Pods: Sizing by Bike
Harley lower fairings hang on the engine guard, which is why riders search "crash bar speakers". Putting speakers in the lowers adds a third pair right at your knees. First question: does your bike have radiators in the lowers?
- Liquid-cooled lowers: the HogTunes 6.5 lower pod kit, the Saddle Tramp BC-HDLFP 6.5 kit for 2014-2023, and Soundz 6.5" and 8" water-cooled pods.
- 2014-2023 pods: the Saddle Tramp BC-HDLFPP pods and Dirty Bird's Loud Double Double 8" lowers.
- Full 8" and 10" lowers: the Nasty Hog 8" color-matched lowers, Voodoo Bikeworks 8" and 10", and Insane Asylum BMF 8" or 10".
- 2024-Present: AdvanBlack color-matched lowers and 6.5" or 8" pods, plus Dirty Bird 2024-Present 8" Loud Lowers.
Wiring and Powering Harley Speaker Pods
Lowers are the third speaker pair, so they need their own amp channels. A four-channel amp running the fairing and lids is already full. Add channels or add an amp. Shop motorcycle amplifiers.
Route the speaker wire along the engine guard and keep it away from exhaust heat. With three pairs on the bike, a motorcycle DSP is what gets them playing together instead of fighting.

Can I put speakers in the lowers on a liquid-cooled Harley?
Yes, with pods made for liquid-cooled lowers, such as the HogTunes 6.5 lower pod kit, the Saddle Tramp BC-HDLFP or Soundz water-cooled pods.
Should I run 6.5 or 8 inch lower fairing speakers?
8 inch speakers need a bigger pod or lower and more amplifier power. 6.5 inch pods are the easier fit. Pick by the space you have and the amp channels you can give them.
Do lower fairing speakers need their own amplifier channels?
Yes. They are a separate speaker pair, so plan channels for them on top of the fairing and lid speakers.
