Compare SounDigital XP Amplifiers

4-Channel XP Amplifiers

Start here when planning separate amplifier channels for fairing and rear speaker locations. Compare the exact model, impedance version, rated output at your intended load and installation requirements before ordering.

The 1200.4 and 2400.4 listings offer different impedance versions. Check the selected variant and its manual rather than treating those versions as interchangeable.

Mono XP Amplifiers

Use the mono-model listings to review a dedicated single-channel amplifier path. Match the driver configuration, final wired load and required frequency range to the selected amplifier. The larger models require a build-specific electrical and mounting plan; their inclusion here is not a blanket recommendation for a motorcycle.

Planning a SounDigital XP System

Fairing and Saddlebag Speaker Amplification

Fairing speakers, lower-fairing locations and saddlebag drivers may require different crossover settings and amplifier channels. Decide whether each location needs independent tuning, and avoid assuming every speaker can share one channel.

Matching Speaker Impedance and Amplifier Power

Calculate the final impedance for parallel or series wiring and confirm the exact XP model supports it. Compare continuous RMS output at the planned load rather than maximum-power marketing claims. Set gain and crossovers based on the installed system.

Harley Touring Generations and Source Integration

1998–2013, 2014–2023 and 2024-Present Touring motorcycles have different radio, harness and fairing considerations. Verify the motorcycle model and audio source before selecting a signal integration method or amp rack.

Installation and Tuning Checklist

Check amplifier placement, ventilation, wire gauge, power and ground, fuse protection, speaker routing, mounting hardware and access for service. Plan DSP processing and a safe crossover for every driver.

Installation and Buyer Resources

Use the GBS Installation Tips & Tutorials for fairing, wiring and integration guidance, and follow the manual for the exact amplifier version. Manufacturer references: XP 400.4 and XP 2400.4. Do not apply one model's fuse, wiring or load recommendations to another XP amplifier.

SounDigital XP Motorcycle Amplifiers FAQ

What is the difference between the 1-ohm and 2-ohm SounDigital XP mono amps?

The stable load. SounDigital rates the XP 1600.1 2-ohm version at 1,600 watts RMS at 2 ohms and 1,056 at 4 ohms. The 1-ohm version makes 1,600 at 1 ohm, 1,056 at 2 ohms and 700 at 4 ohms. Pick the version that makes full power at your final subwoofer load. Two 4-ohm single voice coil subs wired in parallel present 2 ohms, so they belong on the 2-ohm version.

Which SounDigital XP 4-channel amp do I need for fairing speakers?

SounDigital rates the XP 800.4 at 4 x 132 watts RMS at 4 ohms, 4 x 200 watts at 2 ohms, or 2 x 400 watts bridged at 4 ohms, in a 5.72 x 4.44 x 2.0-inch chassis. That runs two 4-ohm speakers bridged or four 2-ohm speakers. The 400.4 is the smaller option, and the 1200.4 and 2400.4 step up in power for bigger 4-speaker builds.

Where does a SounDigital XP amp mount on a bagger?

SounDigital built the XP line around a compact chassis, which is why it fits where larger amps will not. 4-channel models are commonly mounted in the fairing on an amp rack, and mono models in a saddlebag or under the seat. Check the listed dimensions against your amp rack or mounting plate before ordering, and see our amplifier installation parts for racks and wiring.

What power wiring do SounDigital XP amps need?

Size the power and ground wire and the main fuse to the amp's current draw, which SounDigital publishes for each model. The big mono amps draw serious current: SounDigital lists a 400-amp fuse and a 400 Ah battery minimum for the XP 8000.1. Mount the fuse close to the battery, use a solid ground, and set gains with the bike running.

SounDigital 800.4 XP compact 4-channel motorcycle amplifier

SounDigital XP Four-Channel Amps: 400.4, 800.4, 1200.4 and 2400.4

SounDigital's XP amps are small enough to hide in a fairing or under a seat. The four-channel models run your speakers:

  • 400.4 XP: 4 ohm.
  • 800.4 XP: 4 x 132 W RMS at 4 ohm, 4 x 200 W RMS at 2 ohm, and 5.7 x 4.4 x 2.0 in.
  • 1200.4 XP and 2400.4 XP: each sold in a 4 ohm or a 2 ohm version.

Match the amp version to your speaker impedance. A 2 ohm speaker on a 4 ohm amp channel leaves power on the table, and the wrong match can stress the amp.

SounDigital 1600.1 XP compact monoblock amplifier for motorcycle subwoofers

SounDigital XP Mono Amps for Bagger Subs: 1600.1 and 3000.1

Subs run on mono amps. The 1600.1 XP comes in a 2 ohm version (1600 W RMS at 2 ohm) and a 1 ohm version (1600 W RMS at 1 ohm, 700 W RMS at 4 ohm). It measures 6.6 x 5.4 x 2.2 in. The 3000.1 XP is the bigger 2 ohm or 1 ohm option.

A mono amp is never plug and play. It needs its own power run, ground, signal and tune, so plan the install time. Pair it with motorcycle subwoofers wired to the load the amp is built for.

SounDigital amps also power several of our 2024-Present plug and play kits.

More SounDigital XP Motorcycle Amplifiers Questions

Should I buy the 4 ohm or 2 ohm SounDigital XP amp?

Match the amp version to the impedance of the speakers you are running. Tell us your speakers and we will confirm the right version before you order.

How much power is the SounDigital 800.4 XP?

SounDigital rates it at 4 x 132 W RMS at 4 ohm, 4 x 200 W RMS at 2 ohm, and 2 x 400 W RMS bridged at 4 ohm.

Is a SounDigital mono amp plug and play on a Harley?

No. A mono amp is never plug and play. It needs its own power and ground run, a signal source and tuning.
