Motorcycle Amplifiers

Motorcycle amplifiers for Harley-Davidson and Indian touring bikes. The right amp gives your speakers the clean power they need to stay loud and clear at highway speed. Choose by channel count, power and your bike's year.

How to Pick a Motorcycle Amp

Cicada Audio, DB Drive, Diamond Audio, DS18, Hertz, Kicker, MMATS Pro Audio, SounDigital, SoundQubed, Tezla and Wavtech amps for Harley-Davidson and Indian baggers, sized for fairings and saddlebags. Pick by job:

  • 4 channel motorcycle amp: the standard for fairing plus saddlebag speakers. Options run from compact (Cicada FLX500.4, DB Drive EX100.4) to big (Cicada FLX2000.4, MMATS LSX2600x4).
  • 2 or 6 channel: the Diamond Audio DXM600.2D (600W RMS) for one pair; the DXM1000.6D (1000W RMS) or NEO15006DSP to run three pairs off one amp.
  • Mono: subwoofers and full-range monoblock builds: Cicada FLX1600.1 and FLX2500.1, DS18 ION600.1D and ION1200.1D, DB Drive EX1500.1.
  • Built-in DSP: Cicada FLX700.4PRO and FLX1400.4PRO, the Diamond Audio NEO DSP series and Kicker KEY smart amps.

Match RMS, not max, to your speakers' RMS rating, and run the impedance (2Ω or 4Ω) the amp is rated for. Then plan the connection by year. 2014-2023 bikes can keep the stock radio with a plug-and-play 4-channel line driver. 2024-Present bikes have a 4-channel T-harness option; see 2024-Present plug-and-play kits. For 1998-2013 builds, wire it with amplifier installation parts and call us to confirm the signal source.

Harley-Davidson and Indian Motorcycle Amplifiers

A motorcycle amplifier is the backbone of a properly built touring audio system. These Harley-Davidson amplifiers and Indian motorcycle amps are chosen for compact chassis, high efficiency, heat control and clean output at riding speed, and they work with factory radios, factory premium audio and aftermarket DSP processors.

The collection covers 4-channel amplifiers for fairing and saddlebag speakers, monoblock amplifiers for motorcycle subwoofers, DSP-integrated amplifiers for tuning and waterproof amplifiers for open-air mounting. Use the Amplifier Channels filter to narrow by mono, 2-channel, 4-channel or 6-channel.

Plug-and-Play and Custom Builds

Plug-and-play amplifier options connect with model-specific harnessing, so there is no cutting or splicing. Higher-output and custom builds use traditional power and signal wiring, and both are fully supported.

Motorcycle Amplifiers FAQ

What size motorcycle amplifier do I need?

Match the amplifier's RMS power to your speakers' RMS rating. A 4-channel amp covers a fairing pair plus a saddlebag pair, a mono amp powers a subwoofer, and a 6-channel amp runs three speaker pairs.

Can I run a motorcycle amp with the factory radio?

Yes. 2014-2023 Harley touring bikes can keep the stock radio with a plug-and-play 4-channel line driver, and 2024-Present bikes have a 4-channel T-harness option. For 1998-2013 builds, call us to confirm the signal source.

Do I need a mono or a 4-channel amplifier?

Use a 4-channel amplifier for full-range speakers and a mono amplifier for a subwoofer. Many Harley builds run both.

Are these amplifiers waterproof?

Some are. Diamond Audio DXM series and Tezla micro amps are built for exposed mounting. Check the product page for the weather rating before you choose a mounting spot.

Do you install motorcycle amplifiers?

Yes. We install amplifiers at our Taylors, SC shop and ship nationwide. Call 864-334-6131 or start a build consultation.

DS18 ION1600.4D four channel motorcycle amplifier

Best Motorcycle Amplifier for Your Build: Count Channels First

The best motorcycle amp is the one with enough channels for every speaker pair. Count your pairs first: fairing, lids, lowers, tour pack.

  • One pair: a two-channel amp like the DS18 ION700.2D.
  • Two pairs: a four-channel amp, like the Cicada FLX700.4, FLX1000.4, FLX1400.4 and FLX2000.4, the DS18 ION1000.4D and ION1600.4D, or SounDigital XP.
  • Three or four pairs: a second four-channel amp, or a big amp with DSP.

Then match the amp's rated power at your speaker's impedance to the speaker's RMS rating.

Mono Amps, DSP and the Plug and Play Question

Subs run on mono amps, like the Cicada FLX1600.1 and FLX2500.1. A mono amp is never plug and play: it needs its own power run, ground, signal and tune.

Want an amp that plugs into the factory harness? Start with plug and play amplifiers. Want to tune it right? Add a processor from motorcycle DSPs.

More Motorcycle Amplifiers Questions

How many channels does my motorcycle amp need?

Two channels per speaker pair. A fairing pair plus a lid pair needs four channels. Subs run on a separate mono amp.

Is a mono motorcycle amplifier plug and play?

No. A mono amp is never plug and play. It needs its own power and ground run, a signal source and tuning.

Do I need a DSP with a motorcycle amp?

Not to make sound, but a DSP sets crossovers and lets you tune each speaker pair, which is how a multi-speaker bike ends up sounding right.
