GZCM 6.5N-PROC Speaker Overview

The GZCM 6.5N-PROC is a dedicated high-power midrange speaker designed to reproduce the vocal, guitar and upper-midrange frequencies that give an open-air motorcycle audio system its clarity and projection.

Ground Zero combines a lightweight carbon-fiber cone with a compact neodymium motor and 38mm copper-clad aluminum voice coil. This construction helps the driver produce high acoustic output without the weight of a conventional large ferrite motor.

A rigid aluminum cast basket supports the moving assembly and helps maintain alignment during high-output operation. The wave-shaped textile surround controls cone movement while the push terminals provide secure, serviceable speaker-wire connections.

Sold individually: This listing includes one GZCM 6.5N-PROC speaker. Order a quantity of two when building a standard left-and-right speaker pair.

Why Riders Choose This Competition Pro Midrange

High-SPL Midrange Output

The driver is engineered for systems where vocals and instruments must remain clear through wind, engine, exhaust and road noise.

Carbon-Fiber Cone

The lightweight, rigid carbon-fiber cone supports fast response and controlled movement at elevated output levels.

Neodymium Motor

The compact high-efficiency neodymium motor reduces unnecessary speaker weight while providing strong magnetic control.

200W RMS Power Handling

The GZCM 6.5N-PROC is rated for 200 watts RMS and 400 watts maximum when installed, filtered and powered correctly.

94dB Efficiency

High published efficiency helps convert amplifier power into strong acoustic output for open-air listening environments.

Rigid Cast Basket

The massive aluminum cast frame provides a stable mounting platform for demanding custom motorcycle and automotive installations.

Dedicated Midrange Speaker Design

Midrange Frequency Coverage

The published 150Hz–12kHz operating range covers vocals, instruments and much of the upper-frequency information required for strong front-stage projection.

Not a Coaxial Speaker

The GZCM 6.5N-PROC is a dedicated midrange loudspeaker. It does not contain an integrated tweeter or passive full-range crossover.

System design required: Use appropriate active high-pass and low-pass filtering. A separate tweeter may be required when the system needs extended high-frequency coverage and controlled dispersion.

Speaker Impedance and Amplifier Matching

4Ω Nominal Impedance

Each speaker presents a nominal 4-ohm load and can be powered from a compatible amplifier channel configured for that impedance.

200W RMS Rating

Amplifier selection and gain structure should be based primarily on the speaker’s 200-watt continuous RMS rating.

Clean Amplifier Output

Correct gain, crossover and limiter settings are critical to controlling cone movement and preventing thermal or mechanical speaker damage.

Single Speaker Load
4Ω nominal
Standard Stereo Pair
One 4Ω speaker connected to each amplifier channel
RMS Power Handling
200 watts per speaker
Maximum Power Handling
400 watts per speaker
Wiring matters: Do not parallel multiple speakers on one amplifier channel without calculating the final impedance and confirming that the amplifier is stable at the resulting load.

Carbon Cone and Neodymium Motor

Carbon-Fiber Diaphragm

The carbon-fiber cone combines low moving mass with high rigidity, helping the driver maintain controlled response during high-output operation.

Efficient Neodymium Assembly

The compact neodymium motor provides the magnetic force required for high-efficiency performance without the size and weight of a large conventional ferrite magnet.

Competition Pro Mechanical Construction

38mm CCAW Voice Coil

The 1.5-inch copper-clad aluminum voice coil balances electrical conductivity, moving mass and thermal capacity.

Aluminum Cast Basket

The rigid cast frame supports accurate motor and suspension alignment under demanding operating conditions.

Wave-Shaped Textile Surround

The textile surround controls cone movement while supporting the fast response expected from a dedicated high-output midrange.

Push-Terminal Connections

Spring-loaded push terminals support secure speaker-wire connection and simplify service or component replacement.

Klippel Optimized

Ground Zero identifies this driver as Klippel optimized for controlled mechanical and electrical performance.

Standard 6.5" Format

The 165mm frame uses a 147mm mounting opening, but all mounting dimensions must be verified against the intended motorcycle part.

Mounting Dimensions and Clearance

6.5" Outer Diameter

The speaker uses a nominal 165mm outer diameter for standard-size custom speaker locations.

5.79" Mounting Opening

The installation requires a published 147mm mounting cutout. Verify the actual opening before modifying a fairing, pod or lower.

2.48" Mounting Depth

Confirm at least 63mm of rear clearance plus space for the push terminals, wiring and normal cone ventilation.

Motorcycle Fitment and Installation Notes

Universal component speaker: The GZCM 6.5N-PROC is not listed as a direct replacement for a specific Harley-Davidson, Indian, Honda or other motorcycle model. Confirm the complete installation dimensions before ordering.
  • Verify a 147mm / 5.79-inch mounting opening.
  • Confirm at least 63mm / 2.48 inches of rear mounting depth.
  • Allow additional clearance for speaker terminals and wiring.
  • Check basket clearance against factory enclosures and mounting rings.
  • Confirm that the cone and surround cannot contact the speaker grille.
  • Use a rigid mounting surface that seals securely around the basket.
  • Use model-specific adapters when the factory bolt pattern differs.
  • Protect the carbon cone and terminals from direct water exposure.
  • Verify amplifier stability at the final connected impedance.
  • Professional installation and system tuning are recommended.

Recommended Motorcycle Speaker Locations

Custom Fairing Locations

Suitable for custom fairing installations with sufficient mounting diameter, basket depth and grille clearance.

Lower Fairing Pods

Can be used in compatible lower-fairing or custom pod locations that provide a rigid baffle and adequate rear clearance.

Custom Speaker Pods

The compact neodymium structure makes the driver useful in custom pods where conventional high-output ferrite speakers may be too heavy or deep.

Fitment must be measured: These applications describe potential custom locations, not guaranteed bolt-in vehicle fitment.

Crossover and DSP Setup

The GZCM 6.5N-PROC is a high-output midrange driver rather than a conventional full-range coaxial speaker. Appropriate filtering is required to keep damaging bass frequencies away from the speaker and to integrate it correctly with tweeters, mid-bass drivers or subwoofers.

  • Use active high-pass filtering to control low-frequency excursion.
  • Use low-pass filtering when transitioning to a separate tweeter.
  • Base initial settings on the complete enclosure and system design.
  • Do not select crossover frequencies from speaker size alone.
  • Set amplifier gain with clean measured output.
  • Use DSP limiting when available to protect the speaker from excessive output.
  • Verify acoustic polarity through the intended listening range.
  • Equalize only after gain, crossover and speaker placement are correct.
  • Recheck settings whenever additional drivers or amplifier channels are added.
No universal crossover setting: Ground Zero publishes a 150Hz–12kHz frequency response but does not provide one crossover frequency for every installation. Final settings depend on mounting, amplifier power, listening level and the other drivers in the system.

Single Speaker Ordering

Order One

Select a quantity of one when replacing one driver or building a system that requires a single midrange speaker.

Order Two

Select a quantity of two for a conventional left-and-right motorcycle fairing, lower or speaker-pod installation.

Not sold as a pair: Product quantity must be checked before completing the order.

Best For

  • High-output motorcycle midrange systems
  • SPL-focused fairing and lower-fairing builds
  • Custom 6.5-inch speaker pods
  • Four-ohm amplifier channels
  • Systems requiring strong vocal and instrument projection
  • Multi-driver systems using separate tweeters and bass drivers
  • Installations where compact neodymium motors reduce weight
  • Professional custom motorcycle audio builds
