RY-HD69BAFFLE Product Overview
The DS18 RY-HD69BAFFLE provides a sealed rear enclosure for compatible 6×9-inch speakers. Instead of allowing the rear of the speaker to operate directly into an open fairing, saddlebag lid or unfinished panel, the enclosure creates a more controlled acoustic boundary behind the driver.
The included gasket seals the speaker frame against the enclosure, helping keep acoustic pressure inside the baffle rather than allowing it to escape through gaps around the basket. The ribbed ABS structure also helps limit enclosure flex and unwanted mechanical vibration.
DS18 describes the enclosure as a universal solution for compatible Harley-Davidson fairings and lids as well as doors, custom panels and other motorcycle or powersports installations.
Why Use a Sealed 6×9 Speaker Enclosure?
Reduced Pressure Leaks
The supplied gasket helps seal the speaker frame against the enclosure so rear-wave pressure does not escape through unnecessary mounting gaps.
More Controlled Output
A sealed rear chamber gives the speaker a defined acoustic boundary instead of allowing it to operate into an uncontrolled open cavity.
Reduced Panel Interaction
The enclosure separates the rear of the speaker from surrounding wiring, panels and loose objects that could interfere with its movement.
Ribbed ABS Structure
Reinforcing ribs increase enclosure rigidity and help reduce flex, vibration and unwanted resonance during higher-output operation.
Added Speaker Protection
The rear enclosure helps shield the speaker basket, terminals and motor assembly from dust, moisture and road debris.
Compact Universal Design
The enclosures can be used in compatible motorcycle fairings, saddlebag lids, doors and fabricated panels when clearance permits.
What Comes with the Enclosure Pair
Two Sealed ABS Enclosures
One matched left-and-right pair of ribbed ABS enclosures designed around compatible 6×9-inch speaker installations.
Airtight Speaker Gaskets
Gasketing is included to seal the installed speaker against each enclosure and reduce acoustic pressure loss around the basket.
Compatible Installation Locations
Harley Saddlebag Lids
Can be used behind compatible 6×9-inch saddlebag-lid speakers when the lid adapter, speaker basket and available bag clearance support the enclosure.
Motorcycle Fairings
May be used in custom or factory-style fairing installations with sufficient space behind the speaker and no interference with wiring, brackets or steering components.
Custom Panels and Pods
The universal design can support fabricated doors, panels and powersports speaker locations built around a compatible 6×9-inch mounting pattern.
6×9 Speaker Compatibility
The RY-HD69BAFFLE is designed for 6×9-inch speakers, but 6×9 speaker baskets are not dimensionally identical. Frame shape, magnet diameter, terminal placement and mounting depth vary between speaker models.
Basket Shape
Confirm that the speaker basket clears the enclosure walls and aligns with the available mounting surface.
Motor and Magnet Depth
Measure from the speaker mounting flange to the rear of the motor and verify that the enclosure provides sufficient internal depth.
Terminal Clearance
Allow space for speaker terminals, connectors and wiring without pressing the connections against the enclosure.
Sealing and Acoustic Performance
The included gasket is intended to form a seal between the speaker frame and the enclosure. A complete seal helps separate the front and rear acoustic waves and reduces output loss through mounting gaps.
- Clean the speaker and enclosure mounting surfaces before assembly.
- Position the gasket evenly around the complete speaker opening.
- Avoid folding, stretching or overlapping the gasket material.
- Tighten speaker hardware gradually in an alternating pattern.
- Do not overtighten screws and distort the speaker frame.
- Inspect the completed perimeter for visible gaps.
- Seal any required wire pass-through without restricting service access.
- Recheck hardware after the first period of motorcycle use.
Durable Ribbed ABS Construction
Rigid ABS Plastic
The molded ABS structure creates a durable enclosure while keeping weight appropriate for motorcycle and powersports installations.
Reinforcing Ribs
Exterior ribbing increases structural stiffness and helps limit enclosure-panel vibration during speaker operation.
Environmental Protection
The enclosure helps protect the rear of the installed speaker from dust, moisture and debris encountered in open-air vehicles.
DS18 RY-HD69BAFFLE Specifications
Fitment and Measurement Requirements
- Confirm that the selected speaker uses a compatible 6×9-inch frame.
- Measure the speaker basket and rear motor depth.
- Check the location for sufficient enclosure depth and width.
- Allow space for speaker terminals and wire connectors.
- Check for interference with hinges, latches, brackets and factory wiring.
- Verify that the enclosure can sit flat against the mounting surface.
- Confirm that mounting hardware will not contact the speaker cone or surround.
- Confirm that the completed enclosure will not obstruct bag contents or moving parts.
- Test-fit the speaker, gasket and enclosure before drilling permanent holes.
- Professional fitment verification is recommended for painted saddlebag lids.
Installation and Wiring Notes
- Disconnect the motorcycle or vehicle battery before wiring the speaker.
- Test-fit the selected 6×9 speaker inside the enclosure.
- Determine the enclosure and speaker orientation before drilling.
- Plan the speaker-wire route and any required sealed pass-through.

- Test the speaker before completing the surrounding panel assembly.
- Listen for air leaks, rattles or enclosure contact at increasing volume.
Amplifier and Crossover Setup
The RY-HD69BAFFLE does not determine speaker impedance or power handling. Amplifier selection and tuning must be based on the specifications of the 6×9-inch speakers installed inside the enclosure.
- Match amplifier output to the selected speakers’ RMS power rating.
- Confirm amplifier stability at the final speaker impedance.
- Set gain with clean measured output rather than volume position alone.
- Use appropriate high-pass filtering for the selected speakers.
- Reevaluate crossover settings after adding the sealed enclosures.
- Use DSP equalization only after mounting and crossover setup are complete.
- Check both speakers for matching polarity and output.
- Reduce output immediately if mechanical noise or enclosure contact is heard.

DS18 RY-HD69BAFFLE FAQ
Are the DS18 RY-HD69BAFFLE enclosures sold as a pair?
Yes. The product includes two sealed 6×9-inch speaker enclosures.
Are 6×9 speakers included?
No. Speakers shown in manufacturer photographs are for demonstration. The speakers must be purchased separately.
What material are the enclosures made from?
The enclosures use durable ribbed ABS plastic construction.
Are speaker gaskets included?
Yes. Airtight gasket material is included to seal the speaker against each enclosure.
What does the gasket do?
It helps reduce acoustic pressure leaks between the speaker frame and the enclosure mounting surface.
Will these improve speaker output?
A properly sealed enclosure can provide a more controlled mounting environment and reduce pressure loss, resonance and interaction with the surrounding cavity. Final performance depends on the selected speaker and system tuning.
Will every 6×9-inch speaker fit?
