Customer Harley Saddlebag Preparation
The outside of each saddlebag and lid area was protected during fabrication. The paint was taped around the reflector trim, speaker openings, and work areas before cutting, fitting, mounting, sealing, and test assembly began.
Protecting the finish is only one part of preparation. The installer also has to plan the speaker locations, port clearance, brace placement, wiring routes, service access, and final trim before permanent assembly.
Nagy’s Customs Rings and Braces
Nagy’s Customs rings and braces were used to reinforce the speaker mounting areas. Larger drivers place more demand on the bag structure, so a rigid mounting surface is critical to controlling movement, flex, and unwanted noise.
Reinforcement allows the drivers to work against a more stable foundation instead of wasting energy through weak plastic and moving mounting surfaces. It also gives the installer a stronger platform for the custom port and lid layout.
Rusty’s Garage Custom-Made Ports
Rusty’s Garage custom-made ports were integrated into the customer saddlebag build. Port work must be planned around the available bag volume, speaker placement, internal clearance, structural support, wiring, and the final exterior finish.
A port is not simply a cosmetic opening. It is part of the enclosure design, so its installation has to work with the selected drivers and the usable saddlebag space.
Cicada Audio CMB10.S4 10-Inch Midbass Drivers
This build uses Cicada Audio CMB10.S4 10-inch pro mid-bass drivers inside the saddlebags. The CMB10.S4 is designed for strong mid-bass output, giving a Harley audio system more authority and impact than a fairing-only speaker arrangement can produce by itself.
The driver has to be supported by the correct ring, brace, port layout, amplifier, crossover settings, and DSP tuning. The photograph below also shows the treated bag surface and internal wiring around the installation.

Sound Deadening and Wiring Inside the Saddlebags
SoundMat deadening was applied inside the saddlebags to help control unwanted panel resonance and vibration. Untreated plastic can flex, rattle, and absorb energy that should be supporting the audio system.
Wiring also has to be routed around speaker movement, ports, buckets, braces, and service points. A clean build protects the wiring, keeps connections accessible, and avoids placing cables where they can interfere with the drivers or port path.
Sealed Lids and Final Trim Details
The lids were sealed as part of this build, and the reflector trim areas were handled during final assembly. The system has to perform, but the exterior also needs to look intentional once the bike is back together.
Careful trim work, protected paint, clean edges, and consistent hardware are part of a finished custom installation—not optional details added at the end.
